Sardinia. The view from our room at the hotel. We were about 10 miles outside the town of Alghero, on the coastal road to Capo Caccia, in northwest Sardinia.

Sardinia. Our hotel was on the bay just outside the town of Alghero. We picked Alghero as home base for our time on the island because it was on the ocean, yet away from the ferry ports.

Sardinia. This is the Hotel dei Pini (Hotel in the Pines) just outside of Alghero. It was reasonably close to town, but still far enough away to avoid the crowds and congestion.
Approaching Capo Caccia on the coast outside Alghero.
Ed at the edge of the cliff on the oceanside of Capo Caccia. There's a stiff wind blowing and moving from rock to rock along the cliff's edge (no path) is a bit tricky.
Joe on the edge of the oceanside cliff atop Capo Caccia. As elsewhere in Italy, there were no handrails. Yikes!

The Grotta di Nettuno (Neptunes' Cave) at the base of Capo Caccia. Some of the rooms we explored were as high as 150 feet.
The Grotta di Nettuno (Neptunes' Cave) at the base of Capo Caccia. The water here is salt water from rising tides.
A steep path and hundreds of steps leading down the face of the cliff to Grotta di Nettuno at the base of Capo Caccia. Going down wasn't so bad, but you can't imagine what climbing back up was like.
Joe with the town of Castelsardo in the background. We were driving the northern coastal highway between Porto Torres and the islands of La Maddalena.
Ed on one of the rocky ledges of Capo Testa.

Mi piace il vino comments Joe. He's adorable after a glass or two or three of wine.
