Ed in front of the Karen Blixen House in the town of Karen outside of Nairobi, Kenya. A fascinating tour of the house and grounds... and a bit more about the Baroness than is mentioned in the movie.

Arriving in Lewa, Kenya... our Masai Warrior guide, Francis, takes us on a short safari on the way from the air strip.

The landscape is breathtaking...

She looks like she's stalking some prey but she's actually just walking from one shady spot to another. These lions did all their hunting at night and daytime is for napping.

A giraffe, just minding his own business, watches us carefully until we drive away.

A mother white rhino and baby near the watering hole. We stared at each other for about a half hour. Mutual respect.

More of mother and baby. This has to be the largest horn we've ever seen. The Lewa Wilderness Reserve has many white and black rhinos and protects them day and night with armed rangers. It's hard to understand why anyone would want, much less dare, to harm these majestic animals.

Enjoying the sunset as we head back to camp.

Not the best photo, but the best we could get of Mt. Kenya. It was covered in haze most of the time... and it's just barely visible in the distance in this photo.

A mother cheetah and her four cubs. Quite an accomplishment as most cheetah cubs fall prey to other predators before they reach this age. The mother later tried to catch an ostrich... but it ran and she smartly turned back so she could continue keeping an eye on the cubs.

The expanse of the land is difficult to put into words and the photos don't do it justice. You often can't see any sign of man all the way to the horizon.

We came upon this herd of elephants just snacking away at the seed pods on the ground. No clue whatsoever that they were blocking the road.

As we nudge our way through the herd, Ed poses for a quick picture.

Here is Ed halfway through our canopy walk. This elevated wire bridge take us through the treetops while our guide talks about the different trees and wildlife.

After the canopy walk and a short hike through the woods we came upon this gorgeous pool. Of course, we had to go swimming....

Our guides snapped pictures for us while we cooled off in the pool.

This is Bella... she is a newborn bush buck. We were walking along the bottom of a ridge, on our way to the pool, and we heard a crash behind us. Poor Bella fell off the ridge just minutes after being born. Our guide, Francis, gently carried her to the pool and cared for her until we got back to camp. The camp has now adopted her and is caring for her.
