Boarding the plane that will take us out to the Okavanga Delta...
Each time we get on a plane they seem to get smaller...
Leg #2 of our flight to the Okavanga Delta… and the planes are getting smaller... but that wasn't the smallest plane we would fly on during the trip :(
Ed with our pilot...
Flying over the Delta… beautiful.
Looking for our landing strip...
We've landed a little late so we're taking a boat directly from the landing strip to camp. The boat paths are made by the hippos and elephants
We have to watch out for hippos in the water. They will get under you and flip the boat if they get annoyed. Cranky mean animals. You've been warned.
Joe enjoying the boat ride to camp.
The welcoming committee at Little Vumbura in the Okavanga Delta!!
This is our… ahem… tent. And yes, it really is a convas tent, with a few amenities.
Boardwalk down to the main part of camp. The camp is not fenced and elephants, hippos, crocodiles, etc. can come into camp anytime. Stay on the boardwalk!!
Lazy lions… they are well fed. We saw the evidence. :-(
Sniffing and grooming each other...
In case you're wondering, we are not in a boat. We are in a jeep. Yikes!!
Bridge construction is very minimalistic…it's best not to look at what's in the water while motoring across
Giraffe running through the water...
Sun setting on the delta...
Ed and Joe heading out on safari...
Chris, Connor, and Joe… Upstate New York representin'!
Breakfast is served. Pancakes!!
Wild dogs got a fix on breakfast… better move fast!
Wild dogs make their way west…interesting to trek with them when they’re on the move, but the end result can be grisly. Our guy Kay just smiles and says “circle of life”.
Hyena den… three females and about seven cubs.
